Frequently asked questions
The Workstation has a USB playback function. Which USB sticks can be played in this?
The Workstation supports USB sticks from a minimum of 16Mb to a maximum of 32Gb.
There are files on my USB stick but the radio says “NO FILE” what am I doing wrong?
Capacity from 16Mb to 32Mb -> FAT12
Capacity from 32Mb to 2Gb -> FAT16
Capacity from 2Gb to 32Gb -> FAT32
PAY ATTENTION! Formatting will delete all files on the USB stick. Make sure you have a copy of your files.
How far can you walk away without losing the Bluetooth connection?
On average about 10 meters or more in open space. But that is particularly strongly dependent on the type of mobile phone (how strong the Bluetooth signal is that the phone transmits) and any partitions and doors. Via the “connected” LED on the front of the DigiTube you can always immediately see if your phone is still connected.
If the Bluetooth connection is lost when you leave, it will be automatically restored when you return.
Can someone other than their mobile phone also connect via Bluetooth to my radio at the same time?
No. Once paired, the radio will always only recognize your mobile phone. Only if you choose to deliberately disconnect in the Bluetooth menu of the radio, then another mobile phone can be paired.
If I sometimes only move my DAB + radio half a meter indoors, I have much better reception.
When receiving the DAB + signal, a small displacement of sometimes only a few tens of centimeters can indeed make a big difference in the signal level. This is a typical feature of DAB + radio reception.
Is there a telephone list in the radio for calling, can I read text messages via the radio, can I receive photos via the radio, etc.?
No, the Workstation is a unique problem solver to keep you easily accessible while working, but no telephone and data exchange. You can, however, press and hold the telephone button on the radio to redial the last number you called.
Does the 5 Volt USB power output also work when the radio is running on batteries?
Yes, the 5 Volt USB power output works on both mains and batteries.
The Workstation is skipping some of my files, what am I doing wrong?
The Workstation only plays MP3, AAC and FLAC files, other formats are not supported. MP3 files are supported from 16kbps to a maximum of 320kbps.
It may be the case that some files are not played or not properly played by your work radio, while they are being played on your computer or laptop. This often has to do with the encoding (way of converting from CD to digital files) or the extra information (ID3 Tags) that are included in the file. It is therefore not a malfunction of your jobsite radio.
If you encounter this, it is best to re-convert the files from CD to digital files according to the correct specifications) or contact the supplier of the files with the problem.
The Workstation is rechargeable. How long does it play on one charge?
The playing time of a rechargeable radio on one charge can never be specified exactly and depends on many factors such as what type of music is being played (e.g. more bass-rich music requires more power), the chosen volume (the higher the volume, the more power) , the ambient temperature (at low temperatures, a battery provides less power), the age of the rechargeable batteries, etc.
The Workstation plays for up to about 2 working days on a single charge
(at medium volume level 20/40, at room temperature - depending on radio reception and music type).
Does my mobile phone not drain quickly when connected to Bluetooth?
Bluetooth is much more energy efficient than e.g. WiFi. The level of Bluetooth energy consumption depends on the Bluetooth version that the phone has. The version 4.0 developed since 2010, used in the newer models of the iPhone and Samsung Galaxy, is very energy efficient.
Via the USB charger on the side of the Workstation you can always recharge your mobile phone, if desired even when the radio is running on batteries. The Bluetooth function can therefore be used as usual.
The Workstation has a blue LED on the front, can it turn off?
Yes, the so-called "Bluetooth connected LED" can be set to "on" or "off" in the menu.
How do I pair my mobile phone with the Workstation radio for the first time?
Simply via the Bluetooth menu on your mobile phone. In the Bluetooth menu of your mobile phone, select “Workstation”. There is no PIN code or the like.
When I work with my cordless drill near the radio, it disappears. When I stop, the sound returns. How is that possible?
If working machines (e.g. drills, saw tables, forklift trucks, etc.) or battery chargers come or stand close to a work radio, the electro-magnetic field they generate may cause interference to the work radio. With DAB + reception, the radio signal can even be completely suppressed by strong electrical currents in the immediate vicinity.
So I can make hands-free calls via the radio, but I don't see a microphone?
Yes, you can make hands-free calls via the radio. The water resistant microphone is located on the bottom of the radio, just below the Workstation logo.
